It’s got a way to go, but it was a blast. It’s having some trouble staying running, strangely after being driven. It idles fine after starting on the first turn, then after the throttle is applied, it won’t stay running. Dad had a similar problem with his Volvo 240, and it was the coil, so we are going to try that. Other than that, I’m pretty sure it has a few more horsepower than the original 54. It flies. It feels FiST strong in 2nd. Can’t wait to have it going good so we can enjoy the thing.
It needs a steering wheel.
Don’t worry, the lights are just off to replace the bulbs.
It needs brake work, but other than that and lights, it should be good to go once we get the running issues sorted.

Still has no idle screw?

About that.... Sort of. It has a screw that fits.

Might want to try hooking up a vacuum gauge and playing with the idle and mixture screws.

It might not have that much more power. It probably weighs very little.

It sounds like it has a hotter cam in it, but it does weigh 1200 lbs.

I’m still amazed you found one in this condition for what you’d likely pay for a “ran when parked” pile of spare parts.

To be fair, it did “run when parked”. We didn’t see it run in person until after we bought it. We had no real clue about the engine, we just knew that just a shell and chassis unfinished ran double what we got it for.
But, one reinstallation of a wire later, it fired up after one turn of the key. After sitting for at least a year.

Also, the engine is fresh. Like brand new, fresh. It doesn’t even leak. We lucked out big time.

What type of choke does it have?
Had quite the time on my Triumph only to find out the choke was releasing prematurely. Of course this was on a water choke which you don’t have. But same can happen with electric choke.

Electric.
